Suryanamaskar – A complete practice

Without the sun, there will be no life on Earth. Suryanamaskar or the sun salutation is a gesture of gratitude to the sun, which is the reason for all life force on our planet.

Suryanamaskar is a set of 12 fixed cyclic movements (asanas) which bring body, breath and mind together – a stepping stone that can help you go deep into meditation. Suryanamaskar postures act as a nice link between the warm ups and asanas and can be done anytime on an empty stomach.

However, morning is considered to be the best time  for suryanamaskar as it revitalises the body and refreshes the mind. If done in the afternoon it energises the body instantly and if done at dusk, it helps you unwind.

When done at a fast pace it is an excellent cardio vascular workout and a good way to loose weight!!!

It  is good to do atleast 12 rounds of suryanamaskar daily. Yoga experts say that doing 12 rounds of suryanamaskar translates into doing 288 powerful yoga postures in a span of 12 – 15 minutes.

Find a good teacher, class or learn the art of doing sun salutations, to give yourself a disease  free body and relaxed mind. Salute to your practice of suryanamaskar!

Namaste!
